Candidate: Good evening.

I'm  Jisna, your Physiotherapist in this centre.

Could you please tell me what can I do for you?

Patient: Well, Jisna, I had a mild stroke three weeks ago, affecting the function of my right shoulder, and scapula. Now, I'm recovering and my doctor referred me to you, but I don't know why he thinks I'm not ready to return to my work.

Candidate: [* Confirm reason for physiotherapy.]

I'm sorry to hear that you had a mild stroke.  It's good that you are recovering and you want to know why your doctor referred  you to a physiotherapist, and you want  know when are ready to return work. Am I correct?

Patient:  Yes, absolutely.

Candidate: Well, in the meantime, could you please let me know your name for my records, please?

Patient: My name is Peter.

Candidate: Great, Peter. May I ask you a personal question?

Patient: Go on, Jisna.

Candidate: How old are you, for my conformation, please.

Pt: I'm 40.

Candidate, Fine,  [Find out how the patient has been since stroke.]   Now, Peter, and may I know how how you have been since the stroke?

Patient: Thank you. I'm recovering fast; but I have some weakness, a feeling of heaviness and limited movement in my right arm, and shoulder. Otherwise, I'm OK, and I don't really think I need physiotherapy. I feel I'm ready to go back to work.

Candidate:  [* Outline the benefits of physiotherapy for stoke patients (e.g., gradually building up strength, aiding recovery etc,) ]. Well, Peter, I understand you. However, physiotherapy is vital in stroke cases. It has multiple benefits. For instance it helps you buildup strength gradually.  Moreover, physiotherapy helps recovery faster.      Am I clear, Peter?

Patient: Fine. It's OK.

Candidate: [ind out ptatient's job (physical demands, any driving, etc.)]               Thank you.  Peter, What job do you do, may I know?  What's the nature of your wok, for instance , does it require you to drive?

Patient: Well, I work in sales and it demands a lot of driving. However, I'm fine and I think I'm Feeling ready and want to get back to work sooner the possible.

Candidate: [* Stress patient is not ready for to return to work ( e.g., may delay recovery, unsafe to drive, medical clearance required from doctor (etc.).

Well, I appreciate your spirit, but I would like to stress that you are not ready to return to work. Physiotherapy is essential for the recovery, and without it, recovery may be much delayed. Moreover, it's unsafe for you to drive now. Most importantly, there's a legal issue. You require a medical clearness from the doctor  for driving.

Is that very clear, Peter.

Patient: Well, I guess I got it . It didn't occur to me. Now, can you  please tell me about your plan?

Candidate: That's an interesting question.[* Give information about recovery (e.g., depend on: a]mount of damage to brain,  therapeutic stimulation of muscles, fatigue, commitment, etc.)
