Dear Dr Russell
Re: Mr Tim Langham
DOB: 01 August 1995
Thank you for referring Mr Langham, who requires dietary advice. He has been diagnosed with anaemia.
Today, Mr Langham presented with the complaints of mild depression and lethargy. Although he has experienced recent weight loss, his BMI remains within the normal limits (20.4). The biochemical data shows that hemoglobin is below the normal range, and he is on B12 injection on every 3-6 months.
Regarding his dietary information, Mr Langham consumes an excessive amount of carbohydrates, and fats. His dietary pattern shows a reduction in the absorption of iron from the foods; therefore, consumption of dairy products is to be reduced.
During the discussion, Mr Langham was counselled to increase the vegetarian sources of iron, such as legumes, leafy vegetables, dried apricots figs, nuts, vitamin- foods o increase iron-rich absorption.
Noteworthy, Mr Langham wishes to discontinue vitamin B12 IM injections. It would be highly appreciate if you could advise him regarding the intake B12 IM as well as the necessary changes in exercise habits.
Should you have any queries, do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
Dietitian
