IELTS Speaking - Part 1
1. Where do you come from?
Ans: Well, I come from ........ and I've been living here for the last two years. However, I was born and brought up in Kerala.
2. What's your hometown famous for?
Ans: Well, my hometown is Kollam and it's a historically important port of Kerala. Moreover, Kollam is famous for its beautiful lakes and backwaters.
3. What's the one change you want in your hometown?
Ans: Well, Kollam is a beautiful city and we have all modern facilities here. However, the traffic system here requires a lot of changes. Every day the number of vehicles are increasing, but there's no corresponding road facilities. Pollution is another problem which needs change.
4. Can you please tell me about a landmark of your hometown.
Ans: Without any doubt, the lighthouse at Thangassery beach is the landmark of Kollam. It's the biggest and the tallest lighthouse in Kerala. It was built by the British East India Company in 1902.
5. Tell me about the transport facilities in your hometown.
Ans: Well, we have a well developed transport system in Kollam, which includes roadways, railways and waterways. There's no airport in Kollam, but the nearest airport is at Trivandrum.
6. How has your hometown changed over the time?
Ans: Well, during my grandparents time, Kollam was a sleepy little town; however, everything changed dramatically by now. Currently Kollam is a major city in Kerala with all modern facilities.
7. Tell me about your home.
Ans: Well, I live in a two storied building with 3 bedrooms, sitting room and a kitchen. It is newly painted and the rooms are well ventilated . There's a small garden in front of the house. My home is located in peaceful area far away from the noises of the city.
8. What's better, to live in a village or in a city.
Ans: Well, in my opinion it's better to live in a village because villages are peaceful and calm, devoid of pollution. The only drawback is that we may not have all modern facilities in a village. However, the advantages are more.
9. How do you spend your free time?
Ans: Well, I spend my free time by watching TV, listening to music or doing a little gardening.
I watch TV when I'm free and my favourite channel is Safari. I listen to music when I'm tiered. Ever day morning and evening I spend a little time in my garden.
10. Do you have any pets?
Ans. Well, I don't have any pet now. However, I used to have dogs as my my pets when I was a child. In the future I will ave a pet, indeed.
