The chart below shows the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 2011.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and making comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart compares the proportion of people who ad their own house or rented it in England and Wales over a span of nearly a century from 1918 and 2011. (Introduction)

Overview, the trends of the two groups  This are opposite of each other . The number of individuals who owned their house increased dramatically , while the ratio of them who rented accommodation decreased considerably. Interestingly they caught each other in 1971. (Overview)

The figure reveals a population that had their own places to live accounted for over 20 % in 1918. This trajectory surged to over 30 % in 1939 and 1953.  Furthermore, it went up almost 10% in the following years - 1961, 1971 and 1981. In the next two years, it remained almost stable at about under 70%. (Increasing trend)

In contrast, the trend of families who were tenants was vice versa.  In 1918, it made up roughly 77 %; however, it alleviated sharply to 10% in the years 1939 and 1953. This way, continued to mitigate at least 10% in the following years, 1961, '71 and '81. What's more, there were the same figures in 1991 and 2001. (Decreasing trend)
