You are seeing a 60-year-old patient who has been admitted to the emergency department with breathlessness. You gather the patient's information and provide them with essential details.
TASK
* Find out the reason for the visit
* Explore the breathlessness in detail (e.g., onset, duration, severity what makes it better/worse), associated symptoms like cough, wheezing, fever, etc.)
* Ask about general health (e.g., medical history like asthma, other respiratory conditions, allergies. lifestyle factors like smoking, recent infections/illnesses, stress levels etc.
* Explain possible causes of breathlessness (e.g., worsening asthma, infection, heart issues, anxiety, etc.). Outline next steps (doctor's examination, conduct some tests, appropriate treatment, etc.)
*Provide information about necessary tests (e.g., oxygen saturation, ECG, blood tests, chest X-ray, spirometry if stable.) Find out any concerns or questions.
* Reassure the patient about the care they will receive (e.g., close monitoring, prompt treatment, proper inhaler technique, avoiding triggers, knowing when to seek care)
