Setting: Nutrition Clinic
Dietitian: You see a 22-year-old football player who who practise intensely, but feeling tired. He/she wants to improve his/her performance through dietary modifications.
* Confirm the reason for the visit.
* Ask about the current eating habits, training schedule, and energy levels
* Explain the importance of sports nutrition (fuel, recovery, hydration)
* Advise on pre-training/match meals (e.g., carbohydrate for energy: rice, pasta, whole grains, fruits etc.)
* Recommend post-training foods (e.g., protein + carb foods for muscle repair and recovery, e.g., chicken with rice egg with toast, yougut with fruits, etc.)
* Discuss hydration (e.g., water before/during/after, electrolyte drinks if sweating heavily)
* Explain supplements are not always necessary if diet is balanced
* Provide practical tips ( e.g., meal timimg, snacks,potable options for busy schedule.
