Setting: Hospital Ward
DIETITION: You are seeing a 45-year-old patient, who is recovering after abdominal surgery recently. You are asked by the RMO to advise the patient regarding the diet during the recovery period.
TASK
* Confirm the reason for the visit.
* Ask about the patient's current diet, appetite, and any post-surgery symptoms (e.g., pain, nausea, bowel changes etc.)
* Explain the importance of proper nutrition for recovery )e.g., proteins, vitamins, and hydration etc.)
* Advise on suitable foods for post-surgery recovery , including soft foods, high-protein potions, and easily digested meals.
* Discuss portion sizes, meal frequency, and hydration strategies.
* Explain how to manage complications (e.g., constipation, poor wound healing through diet)
