The graph given below gives information on the number of participants for different activities at one one social centre in Melbourne, Australia, for the period 2000 to 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.

 Sample Answer

The given line graph compares and contrasts the activities of the participants for five different activities in Melbourne for twenty years. [Introduction]

Overview, the film club remained the most popular activity, while musical performances the most notable increase in participation. In contrast, martial arts  and amateur dramatics saw declines; however, tennis showed a slight upward trend. 

Among the five activities, the film club consistently had the the highest number of participants, starting at around  20 in 2000 and slightly increasing to 65 by 2020. Martial arts began with about 35 participants  in 2000 , but gradually declined to around  around 25 by 2020. Amateur dramatics had about 25 participants in 2000, and the number fluctuated to a peak of 30 in 2005  and 2015 before falling to 15 by 2020. [BP1]

On the contrary, table tennis maintained relatively stable numbers, starting at 20 participants in 2000 and increasing slightly to 25 by 2020. Similarly, although musical performances started with nearly zero participants in 2000, it presented a significant growth, reaching around 20 participants by 2020. [BP2]
