Paragraph 1. Introduction

Technology has changed dramatically over the time, and its impacts on relationships that people make are multifaceted. (Paraphrase) This essay will dwell on the effects of the changes on interpersonal  relationships and  validate my opinion that advancements in technology has significantly affected  the nature of relationships both positively and negatively. (Thesis sentence)

To embark on, technology has enabled instant communication across distances by means of video calls, messaging apps and social media platforms, which allows people to stay connected even when they are physically apart. (Arguments) Moreover, social media platforms facilitate connections with friends, family, and acquaintances and they ensure  life updates and staying informed. (Reason)For instance, two decades ago, people used to write letters and waited long for their replies. (Example) Thus, innovations in the field of technology has revolutionised interpersonal communication. (Conclude BP 1)

However, technology has significantly influenced the nature of the relationships, both positively and negatively. On the merit side, technology allows couples to share their lives through photos, videos and messages; however, privacy breaches, cyberstalking and digital infidelity can erode trust and create insecurity. (Arguments) For example, newspapers abound in cyber crimes, which are perpetrated using modern technology. (Example)   Furthermore, while it bridges geographical gaps, making long distance relationships more manageable and maintain intimacy, wrong usages may lead to commitment issues. (Reason) Therefore, the developments in the field of communication is a mixture of vices and virtues. (Conclusion).

To conclude, technology's impact on relationships is much complex. It depends on how individuals use it, their intentions, and their adaptability.  Balancing of virtual and real-world connections is crucial for maintaining healthy relationships. (Re-write introduction)

General Discussion

1. How has technology changed over time?

Technology has changed dramatically over the past 20 years, affecting various aspects of our lives, such as communication, media education health, and environment. 

* Communication: 

Technology enabled communication enabled us to communicate with anyone, anytime, and anywhere through devices such as smart phones, laptops , tablets and smartwatches.  We can use platforms such as social media, e-mails and instant messaging to  stay in touch with our family, friends, and colleagues. Communication has become more accessible, affordable and diverse as we can use different languages, modes and formats. to express ourselves.

* Media:

Technology has transformed how we can create, consume and share media content. such as news, entertainment, education, and information. We can access a variety of media sources and formats through the internet, such as websites, blogs, podcasts and online games. It has also made media more interactive and personalised.

* Education:

Technology has enhanced how we learn, teach and research both inside and outside the classrooms. We can use computers, projectors, and smartboards to facilitate teaching and learning. It has also made education more flexible at our own place, style with others across the globe.

* Health:

Technology has improved how we diagnose, treat and prevent diseases, injuries and disabilities. We can use devices such as scanners, monitors, and implants to detect and monitor health conditions. We can also use platforms such as telemedicine, and mobile health apps to deliver and manage healthcare services. 

* Environment:

Technology has influenced how we  interact and impact the natural environment both positively and negatively. We can use devices such as sensors, satellites, and drones to observe and measure environmental phenomena. 

  

2. How did people interact earlier?

Earlier, for instance two decades ago, the way people interacted was quite different from today.  They used:

*Telephone: People then used telephone to connect with loved ones. They  used land phones and dialed numbers.

* Letters and postcards: Sending handwritten letters and postcards were the only means. Waiting for the replies was usual. 

* Face-to-face: Meeting in person was was essential for socialising. Coffeeshops, parks and community gatherings were popular on those days.
