Economic growth and developments are usually considered to be beneficial to individuals and society as a whole. Do the advantages of economic development outweigh the disadvantages?

Include reasons for your answers and relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.

Paragraph 1 Introduction   

Economic prosperity is crucial for the welfare of both individuals and society. (Paraphrase) A sturdy and fast evolving economy can offer several rewards, such as improved standard of living, job creation and infrastructural development to the society; however, an over-emphasis on economy can be detrimental,  because it would hamper the overall performance of the other areas (Thesis sentence)

3. Sturdy: Strong, muscular, secure, powerful, stout

4. Evolving: Emerging, developing, progressing, rising

Paragraph 2 BP 1

To embark on, the economic stability and progress is  the cardinal proof of the strength of a nation because it is the pivot upon which the fate of the nation rotates. (Argument 1) An increased income  improve people's standard of living and it allows individuals to afford better housing, education, healthcare, and other essential services. (Reason) For example, in this post-covid era, India has emerged as a super power in Asia because of the new economic policy implemented here. (Example)Therefore, the plight of the people and the society in general is centered on the financial stand of a nation. (Conclusion BP 2)

On the flip side, the economic status is only an arc of a big circle. There are areas equally significant, which need to be catered to for attaining all round development.  (Argument 2) They include agriculture , education, healthcare,  social welfare and so on.  (Reason) For instance, an over-emphasis on economic development can lead to negative consequences, such as environmental degradation, increased inequality, and focus on short-term gains over long-term sustainability. (Example) Hence, a balanced approach, which considers economic, social, and environmental factors, is the best way to overcome the drawbacks of economic developments. (Conclusion of BP2)

To conclude, economic stability confers multiple advantages to the citizens and the society on all walks of life.  Even though there are a few minor demerits, the advantage of it are more out standing.

Economic prosperity is crucial for  both individuals and society for several reasons: 

* Improved standard of living: Economic development often leads to increased income and wealth, improving people's standard of living. It allows individuals to afford better housing, education, healthcare, and other essential services.

* Job creation: Economic development stimulates the creation of job opportunities. It reduces unemployment and provides individuals with the means to support themselves and their families.

* Infrastructure Development: Economic development funds the development of public infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals and public transport. These improvement benefit the society as a whole. Here are a few:

* Education:  is  crucial for personal development and societal progress.

* Healthcare: Access to quality healthcare is essential for a healthy, productive society. It improves life expectancy and reduces diseases, and enhances quality of life.

* Scientific Researches and invention: These are key drivers of technological advancement and economic growth. 

* Environment: Protecting the environment is vital to sustainable development.  It involves managing resources, combating climate changes and preserving biodiversity.

Each of these areas is interconnected and plays a significant role in the overall development and well-being of individuals and society.

 

3. Do you think the over-emphasis of economic development good? Why/Why not?

Ans: On the one hand, economic development can lead to improved living standards, better infrastructure, and more opportunities for individuals and businesses.

On the other hand, an over-emphasis on economic development can lead to negative consequences. They might include environmental degradation, increased inequality, and focus on short-term gains over long-term sustainability.

Therefore, a balanced approach, which considers economic, social, and environmental factors, is the most sustainable way forward.
