DOCTOR
You are speaking to the son/daughter of your 68-year-old patient, Harry Smith. He has a history of atrial fibrillation (abnormal Heart rhythm) and takes warfarin (anti-coagulant) to reduce the the risk of thrombosis and embolism (abnormal formation and migration of blood clots. The son/daughter is requesting a prescription of Panadeine forte for Harry, who two days ago fell at home and now has extensive bruising and pain on his right thigh, but otherwise well.
TASK
* Tell the son/daughter that you will not write a prescription for a patient without consultation.
* Explain your decision (standard of care, the importance of patient assessment in management decision, warfarin contraindication)
* Express concern about Harry's well-being and convince the son/daughter that a home visit with Harry's consent is most desirable.
