You should spend about 40 minutes on this Task. Write at least 250 words.

     Wildlife has no place in the 21st century, so protecting them is a waste of resources. How far do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answers and include relevant examples from your knowledge or experience

General discussion

1. Is wildlife important?

Yes. It is important for our survival, well-being and prosperity.

a. It supports the balance and stability of the nature's process. For example, pollinators help plants reproduce, predators control prey population and plants produce oxygen and regulates climate.

b. Wildlife provides economic benefits to humans. Wildlife tourism generates income and employment, for example. It regulates flood and conserve soil.

c. Wildlife offers scientific and educational opportunities. Wildlife research help us to understand the natural world and discover new medicines. It teaches us how to live sustainably and peacefully with other species.

Therefore, we have an obligation to protect wildlife from threats such as habitat loss, over-exploitation, pollution and climate change.

2. Why some people argue that wildlife has no relevance in the 21st century?

These arguments are based on misconceptions and ignorance. They ignore the fact that wildlife is an integral part of the Earth's supporting system. Its conservation is essential for achieving sustainable development goals and the biodiversity framework of the 21st century.

Paragraph 1 Introduction

The emerging world order demands co-existence and peaceful living not only with the people and nations, but also the flora and fauna of this planet, which play no less a significant role. However, it is sometimes argued that wildlife has no relevance in this globalized world and it is not pertinent conserving them.  [Paraphrase] . I totally disagree with  this notion and in my opinion, underestimating the significance of wildlife is hazardous to the harmonious life on this planet [Thesis sentence]


Paragraph 2 Body Para 2. ( Importance of wildlife)

To embark on, wildlife is vital to the  survival, well-being and prosperity of human beings. (Argument 1).  We have an obligation to protect them from threats such as habitat loss, over-exploitation and pollution. Moreover, it supports the balance and stability of of the nature by supplying oxygen and regulating climate (Reason). For instance, pollinators help plants to reproduce, predators control prey population, decomposers recycle nutrients.   ( Example) Thus, they play a key role in the continued existence of human beings; therefore, they should be protected. (Conclusion BP1)


Paragraph 3 Body Para 2 (Why some people argue against wildlife)

In the interim, some people believe that wildlife is not  pertinent to the present century and it is not worth protecting. These arguments are based on misconceptions and ignorance. (Argument against). They ignore the fact that wildlife is an integral part of the Earth's life support system. Its conservation is essential for achieving sustainable developmental goals and biodiversity framework of the 21st century. (Reason) . For example, the recurring floods, draughts and global warming  are because of our indifference to wildlife. (Example) Therefore, the argument that they have no place in the current century can not be supported (Conclusion).


Paragraph 4 Conclusion

To conclude, wild life and its conservation are highly  important because they can teach us how to live sustainably and peacefully with other species. This essay has validated my opinion that the arguments against the relevance and protection of wildlife is baseless and can not be agreed with. (Introduction re-phrased)
