Causes and Solutions

In most countries, animal and plant species are declining rapidly.

What are the causes of it?

What Measures could be implemented to prevent this decline?

There is no doubt that over the last few decades, the flora and fauna of several countries around the globe is diminishing at a burgeoning rate. This essay will dwell on the prime causes of this, including deforestation and climate change. Besides, it will also shed some light on the solutions to mitigate the problem such as curbing carbon emission and enforcing rigerous laws against illegal poaching.

To embark on, the depletion of plants and animals, which has gathered momentum recently, has been caused mainly by deforestation and climatic changes. Indeed, the clearing of forests for the development of civilizations has adverse ramifications on the habitats of wild species. On top of that the ever increasing carbon emission catalyses the fast disappearance of several rare plants and animals. For instance, a recent study conducted by IIT Madras reveals that the increase in carbon emission is the major reason for the extinction of 80 percent of the wild population. Thus, it is clear that deforestation and changes in climatic conditions have detrimental effect on plants and animals.

On the flip side, this grave issue is not without any remedial measures. To combat this problem, countries with the most carbon emission should undertake efforts to curb them for greater good. Further more, governments ought to regulate the clearing of forest land and promote reforestation. A premier example is the Kasturi Rangan Report, which earmarked about 60 percent of the forest land in Wynad district of Kerala to be protected from any kind of construction, including felling of trees. Obviously, such initiatives can curtail the extinction of wild species.

To conclude, the rapid disappearance of plants and animals is a matter of grave concern that questions the very equilibrium of the earth.. This essay has established the principal causes of the declining of them, such as deforestation and climatic changes. Despite the grim and grave situations prevailing, it can be managed effectively by tougher regulations regarding land clearing and limiting gas emissions.
