Write about the following topic:

Living in large cities today poses many problems for people.

What are these problems? Should governments encourage more people to live in smaller towns?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

More and more people reside in cities these days than at any point in the past and this propensity will continue in the future. In this essay, I will validate my opinion that this trend has resulted in several predicaments, including exorbitant over-crowding and a burgeoning growth in garbage and pollution. I reckon that governments should act proactively and take measures to make living outside cities more mesmerizing. 

To embark on, there are a wide spectrum impediments associated with the rise of modern cities, but one of the most obvious issues is related to population density. The large number of people crammed into a relatively small area has caused expensive housing, increased traffic and alarming pollution. For instance, apartment prices in mega-cities such as Mumbai and Paris have soared to the point, where only the wealthiest inhabitants can afford a decent living standards in those cities. Thus, large cities cause detrimental effects on the society.

Even though it is a grave issue, it is not without any resolution. In fact, many of the maladies can be solved by judicious approaches of governments, such as encouraging citizens to re-locate to rural areas. If cities continue to expand unabated, the aforementioned problems will only worsened. To begin with, the authorities ought to ensure that the amenities available in cities are present in rural areas, too. Developing satellite cities is another remedy. The premier example is the creation of Navi Mumbai. The suffocating Mumbai city could be salvaged by the creation of the satellite city.  Therefore, governments with a stern political will can sublimate many concerns faced by large cities and make life hassle-free. 

To conclude, currently, major cities around the globe encounter multifarious issues, such as over-population, traffic problems and sso on. These concerns can be countered by governments by incentivising dwelling in hinterlands. If this is done, many of the glitches can be sublimated.
