Write a letter to your friend that you can't collect from the airport as you have promised , because of some reasons. In your letter : 

* explain why you can't come

* guide then regarding other options to get to your home 

* describe the plans you made to show them around when your friend arrives.

Dear John, 

I'm anxiously waiting for your arrival on Saturday morning. However, unfortunately I would not be able to come to pick you up at the airport because of some unforeseen circumstances. (Bullet point 1)

An unexpected business meeting has been scheduled , which can not be avoided; therefore I recommend you other means to reach my home. One way is to hire a cab from outside the airport. If you have a lot of luggage, that would be the most convenient option. On the other hand, if you are travelling light, I suggest you take a local bus from the airport. That would be very economical. I'm very sorry for this turn of events. (Bullet point 2)

Once you are here, I have planned a lot of surprise for you.  There are multiple tourist centres here. The most important among them are the international zoo,  the famous art gallery and the international beach at Kovalm. Moreover, you can attend a marriage ceremony of my cousin and visit shopping centres, which will give you a taste of our rich cultural heritage. (Bullet point 3)
