Sample Answers - Part 3
1. Can you name another home appliance that people commonly use on a daily basis?
Ans: Well, home appliances play a crucial role in our daily lives, making tasks more convenient and efficient. In India, we commonly use refrigerators which are essential for food storage and preservation. Washing machines, dishwashing machines and cookers are are also used widely these days. Moreover there are some small appliances such as vacuum cleaners, electric kettles, fans, and hair dryers, to name a few.
Furthermore, several famous brands such as Samsung, Godrej, Prestige that offer a diverse range of products.
2. Do you think people these days accumulate unnecessary appliances in their home?
Ans: Certainly. In today's fast-paced world, it's common for people to accumulate various home appliances. While, some are essential and improve our quality of life, others may be considered unnecessary or even excessive.
Advertising, social media, and trends influence our buying decisions. For example, smart home devices, voice-controlled assistance, and other tech gadgets are popular trends that drive accumulation.
On top of that our busy lives lead us to seek convenience. Appliances that save time and effort become attractive. For instance, robotic vacuum cleaners, instant pot cookers and smart refrigerators with built-in cameras have become much popular. however, too many appliances can clutter living spaces, making them harder to maintain. Moreover, purchasing and maintaining them make it harder.
3. Where do most people in your hometown prefer shopping for their household items?
Ans: Well, it depends. The preference for shopping locations varies based on individual habits, lifestyle, and convenience.
Some people consider supermarkets better because they primarily focus on food and household items. They offer a wide range of products, including fresh produces, meats, dairy, packaged goods , and cleaning supplies.
On the other hand, retail stores sell a diverse array of goods, such as clothing, electronics, home goods and more.
Some customers prefer retailers for specialty products. So, in my opinion it's purely personal choice.
4. Some people believe that higher-priced products are of better quality than lower-priced ones. Do you agree or disagree?
Ans: Well, I think, it's a common belief. We have to consider both the pros and cons.
Premium brands often invest in rigerous quality control, research and development. Their products may undergo more testing and adhere to higher standards. That's why consumers associate higher prices with superior quality. This perception influences their purchasing decisions.
On the other hand, some expensive products rely heavily on branding and marketing. The price tag may not always reflect intrinsic quality.
For example, independent reviews and consumer reports often reveal that mid-priced products perform just as well as high-priced ones.
So, I guess, while price can be an indicator of quality, it's not an absolute rule.
5. Many teenagers today spend a lot of their time playing video games. Is it beneficial or harmful?
Ans: Video games have become an integral part of modern entertainment, and their impact on teenagers is a topic of ongoing debate.
On the brighter side, video games can provide a virtual community where players interact, collaborate, and work together to achieve common goals. This is especially valuable for combating loneliness.
However, video games are prone to overuse injuries due to repeated hand and arm movements. Prolonged screen time can strain the eyes and contribute to digital eye strain and sleep deprivation.
Therefore, striking a balance between enjoyment and responsible use is essential for teenagers' overall well-being.
6. What do you think about the importance technology in workplace?
Ans: Well, in my opinion, technology in workplace plays a pivotal role in shaping modern businesses. It has revolutionised communication and now we can connect with people worldwide instantly.
For example, tools like video conferencing, instant messaging, and project management software facilities enhanced communication effective.
Moreover, automation, data analytics and cloud-based systems enhance productivity.
Hence, embracing workplace technology is a blessing.
NOTE:
In PART 3 Discussion, go on speaking until the interviewer stops you and don't just answer and stop. Display your best English, instead.
In Part 3, it is quite possible that you have to speak about something you have never heard of. If you don't know the subject, tell the examiner soon, so he could ask you another question. Mind you, if you don't tell him and start trying to speak, he might think that it is not a knowledge problem, but a language problem.
[Note: These questions are often abstract and resemble the kind of 'academic' questions you might encounter in IELTS Writing Task 2.]
