PART 3 Discussion- Sample Answers
1. In your opinion, who find it difficult to accept changes, children or older people?
Ans: Well, both children and adults find find difficulties in accepting changes. However, I guess, children can can adjust more to changes than the adults because their experiences and memories are fewer when compared to that of adults. Adults take more time to accept changes. But I'm not sure.
2. In your opinion, is the change of routine good for children?
Ans: Well, in my opinion, changes in routine can have both positive and negative impacts on children.
On the one hand, changes help children learn new skills, adapt to different situations, and adjust with uncertainties. Changes can also provide them opportunities to explore their interests, discover their strengths, and experience diversities. For example, a new school or a new hobby expose children to new people, ideas and challenges. They can help their growth positively.
On the other hand, changes in routines can be stressful for children , especially, if they are sudden, frequent or major. It can make them feel anxious, angry or sad as they lose familiarity and security.
3. Do you think it takes a long time for children to adjust to new school?
Well, that's an interesting question. I have seen children adjusting to new surroundings faster than the adults. So I guess they can adapt to a new school because of the new environs and friends. However, the older they are the less difficult it is to adjust.
4. What factors might influence the adjustment process?
Well, that's a hard question. I never thought about it; however, I guess several factors can influence adjusting to new place. such as:
i. Cultural factors: The cultural background of a person can significantly impact their adjustment to a new place. Understanding these cultural factors can help in making transition easier and smooth.
ii. Physical and mental health: status of a person influence one's adjustment to a new location.
iii. Routine: Establishing new routine that incorporates important aspects of your old routine can help in adjusting to a new place.
5. Do you believe that children will never fully adjust to moving to a new place?
Well, I think that children can adjust to a new place easier and faster than adults. However, the child's age, personality, the support they receive during the transition have crucial roles to play.
6. Can frequent changes in a child's life impact their development?
Yes, without any doubt, frequent changes in a child's life can have impact on their development. These changes can affect the four main areas of development, such as emotional, physical, intellectual and psychological. I guess, all stress is not harmful. Learning to cope with adversity is an important part of healthy child development. Well, I'm not very sure.
