Paragraph 1. Introduction    (Time: 5 min. words: 55- 60)

Thanks to the exponential growth of science and technology, advertising has become ubiquitous; however, it is often argued that it should be banned because adverts are futile and hazardous. (Paraphrase). In this essay, I totally disagree with the notion because in my opinion, despite a few minor demerits, commercials are not only beneficial but also inevitable. (Thesis)

7. Inevitable: Unavoidable, mandatory, necessary, inexorable.

Paragraph 2. BP 1          (Time: 10 min. Words: 65- 70)

To embark on, there are multiple ways how advertising plays a crucial role in the society and why it can not be ignored. (Argument 1) Firstly, it is a major industry offering employment opportunities to hundreds of thousands of people, and any ban on advertising will result in huge unemployment.  Secondly, the very existence of businesses depends exclusively on  adverts. If advertising is banned, it can culminate in the untimely death of all manufacturing units, (Reasons). For example, any blanket ban on advertising will culminate in closure of manufacturing and marketing sectors. (Example) Thus, any steps to ban advertising can have far reaching consequences. (Conclusion BP1)

Paragraph 3. BP 2      (Time: 10 min.   Words: 65-70)

Furthermore, advertising plays a significant role in the social, healthcare and commerce. (Argument 2). Governments use advertising as a medium of communication in transferring information to the public, to create awareness and educate them on certain issues through a series of campaigns. (Reasons) For instance, during the Covid 19 pandemic advertisements played no small part in spreading Covid awareness. Moreover, adverts on national pulse immunisation program, female feticides, child marriage and so on had a large scale impact on the society. (Example). Hence, a sweeping ban on advertising can cause more harm than good. (Conclusion BP 2)

Glossary

1. Sweeping ban: Blanket ban, total ban

2. Harm: Danger, hurt, injury, suffering

Paragraph 4 Conclusion    (Time: 5 min   Words: 55-60)

To conclude, even though advertising is not free from flaws, its significance can not be belittled. Therefore, I totally disagree with the statement that advertising should be banned.
