7 January 2023 Morning Slot
Some people believe that climate affects the person's way of life, while others believe that climate has a greater impact on the economy of a region. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Climatic changes have become more pronounced now than ever before in the pages of history and the people hold diverse opinion on its impact on our ways of life and the economy. This essay will dwell on both the views and validate my opinion that rising of the sea levels and other extreme weather events will have an adverse effect on both the individuals and the economy of the region.
To embark on, the effect of climatic changes , without any doubt, would affect every nation, but in different ways. The harshest consequences are to be faced by those who are already burdened with poverty and oppression. Their struggle to earn money, support their families and build stable homes are getting harder these days. For example, the recurring hurricanes, floods, wildfire and draughts have caused untold miseries to the poor people across the globe. Thus, climate change will affect the life of the people directly and indirectly.
On the other hand, the changes in the climate will impact the economy of the regions negatively. Climate change is the direct cause of soil degradation, which limits the amount of carbon the earth can hold. For instance, the recent studies conducted by the UNO reveals that four hundred million people living in different areas are directly affected by erosion and landslide and 30 percent of food and crop were lost or wasted as a result. The worst is expected in the future. Therefore, global economy will lose 10 percent of its GDP by the middle of 2050.
To conclude, climate change has become a reality of our time. This essay has discussed both the views and established my view that both individuals and the areas will be adversely affected by it, irrespective of being rich or poor.
