c. Sample Answers

Important Tips for speaking.

Tip 1.

Don't give one idea sentences. Make it a compound or complex sentence. Begin your answers with a "Well" and an apt "connector" which give your speaking flexible.

eg. 1.  Examiner: Where do you come from?

Candidate: I come from Trivandrum. It's a beautiful city.

Better answer: Well, I would say, I come from Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala State. It's a historically important city with all modern facilities.

eg. 2. Examiner: What's the one thing you don't like about your city?

Candidate: My city is slightly polluted. Traffic problem is another thing I don't like.

Better answer: Well, I guess, although it's a beautiful city, recently it's slightly polluted because of the increasing population. Moreover, every day the number of vehicles is increasing; however, the road facilities are not increasing correspondingly, which makes heavy grid lock. Don't go off topic.

Tip 2.

Be confident; do as many practice as possible. Find out a like-minded friend with whom you can practise daily. In part 1, all the questions are about you and it makes things easier. You are not expected to give professional answers. It's not what you say, but how well you say it.

Tip 3.

Vocabulary counts in Speaking; however, do not experiment with language. Never ever use those words or usages which you are not sure of.

Tip 4.

What if you are interrupted? Don't panic. It's a time-bound test. The best way out is in Part1. give only two to three sentences. If your response exceed the time limit, you might be interrupted.

Tip 5.

Feedback is vital; hence try to get feedback which will let you know your strength and weaknesses. In Bemax we have, apart from, regular speaking session, such as Speak Easy, Roots and Spectra which provide you with ample opportunities. Make sure after each practice you get the feedback.
