Why is this happening?
What can be done to solve this problem?

Part 1.

Let's talk about mathematics.
4. Do you think mathematics is essential to you?
5. Did you have a teacher in your school who made mathematics easy to understand?
6. many students find Mathematics difficult. Why ?
7. Some people say that such students should be permitted to opt any other subject they like instead of mathematics. Do you agree or disagree?
8. Do you think mathematics is important in real life?
9. How has technology helped the study of mathematics easy?


[IELTS Examiner: Why do some children find mathematics more difficult?
Candidate: Well, in my opinion, mathematics lack the patience and persistence. It is a subject that does not come automatically and intuitively - it takes plenty of effort from the side of the learners.  Sometimes students are required to devote lots of time and energy. Most students are unwilling to do that.


IELTS Examiner: Why do most children hate mathematics ?

Candidate:  Well, without any doubt, many students hate mathematics because they think it is dull and dry. They don't get excited about numbers and formulas the way they get excited history, science or poetry, for example. Some students feel math as abstract and irrelevant figures that are difficult to understand. I would say, such students lack an aptitude to math.

IELTS Examiner: Do you think mathematics is important? Why?

Candidate: Honestly speaking, math teaches you basics that can help you later in life. It imparts the basic skills of problem solving that will most definitely need several times in one's life. Moreover, I believe,  school is not to entertain the children, but to educate them. Therefore, even if they don't like it, they ought study math.

IELTS Examiner: How can study of mathematics made easy and enjoyable?

Candidate: Well, In my opinion, math can be made interesting by incorporating activities such as, games, music, dance and art.  Furthermore, focus on the"why" rather than memorizing formulas can help a lot.]


Part 2. Cue Card.

 Talk about a time when you made a promise which you could not fulfil. You should say:

* When was it
* To whom you made the promise
* Why you made that promise
* Why you could not fulfil it
* And how do you feel about it now?


Part 3. Discussion

1. Do parents usually make promise to their children in your country?
2. Do you think keeping promise to children is important?
3. Why do people make promises?
4. Is it OK to break promises?
5. Why can't people understand that other person couldn't keep his/her promise?
6. Do you prefer a written or a verbal agreement?
