Task 1 General Candidates

You recently went on holiday and your friend lent you a travel guidebook. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

* tell your friend about the holiday
* explain how the guide book was helpful
* say when and how you will return the guidebook.

Shopping habits depend more on your age than anything else.

Part C Discussion.

1. Do you think it's important for children to play a musical instrument? Why or Why not?
2. What age would be the best to learn to play a musical instrument?
3. Is it easier to learn to play an instrument as a child or as an adult?
4. Do you think music is to be made the part of curriculum?
5. Do you have any traditional music of your country?




Idiom for the Day 

If you look at the Band Descriptors (public) for IELTS Speaking, you will see that you need to demonstrate the following to win a band score 7.
* Uses vocabulary resource flexibly to discuss a variety of topics.
* Uses less common and idiomatic vocabulary and shows some awareness of style and collocation.
* Uses paraphrase effectively.

That explain the importance of using idioms in your Speaking.
Idiom of the Day:

To have a  whale of a time.

Meaning: To have a very fun and exciting time.

Example
IELTS Examiner: Tell me about your hometown.

Candidate: Well, I would say, I come from Kollam, which is a beautiful and  important city renowned for its history and culture. There is so much to do here that you are guaranteed to have a whale of a time if you visit.
