Model letters

You recently took a plane to a holiday in a foreign country, and on arrival you found that your luggage was  lost. You did not receive your luggage until the last day of your holiday. Write letter to the airline.                                                                                                 In your letter:

*complain about the situation
*explain why it caused problems
* seek suitable compensation.

Begin your letter: Dear Sir/Madam,

Model Answer.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing regarding the loss of my baggage at New Delhi airport on 29 September 2021. It consisted of two suitcases,  both were  labelled clearly in the accepted way, and both were locked congruously.

On arrival at New Delhi,  I found both my suitcases listed as 'missing', and the airline staff could not give me any information about my baggage. It caused  me substantial inconvenience because the suitcases contained my clothing, toiletries,and books, which I purchased from Japan at a very high price. When I finally received the suitcases, I found that they were opened and many items were missing. Consequently, I had to replace these items at my own cost when I reached home.

Therefore, I request you to reimburse me the  cost of $ 600 for all these items, and I have attached all relevant receipts.

I look forward to receiving your confirmation of the payment.

Yours sincerely
Name.
